Is your next outing to the go-kart track as good as planned? And are you ready to show your friends, family or colleagues how good you are at go-karting? You’re ready to check out and suddenly you see ‘a heat karting’ or ‘2 heats karting’ listed. But what does ‘a heat of go-karting’ mean? We’ll explain.

What is one heat of go-karting

A heat of karting

Almost all go-kart tracks in the United Kingdom work with go-kart heats. A heat of go-karting is generally 10 minutes long. But this can vary, as you can always see in the deal of the karting track where you want to book. Usually, you will get a program from your booking which will tell you the duration of your go-kart heat.

10 minutes may not sound like much, but go-karting is very intensive. On a 300-metre track, you can do a lot of laps around the track and improve your time each lap.

2 or 3 heats of karting

Can’t get enough of karting and want to go longer than one heat or 10 minutes? This is possible. At all go-karting tracks, you can book extra heats. That way you don’t just go a heat, but you can also go 2 or even 3! After the first heat on the karting track, all the racers get a break.

During the break, you and your friends can discuss the race and see where you could cut back on your lap time. After this, you head back to the karting track. The competition is about to begin. Did you lose? Then maybe you can use these excuses.

A race or a lap

Not all go-karts have the same definition of what your heat should look like. Most tracks use a fixed number of minutes. But, not every karting track does. At some tracks, you drive a number of laps around the track. If you’re a slow driver, you’ll have more time on the track. One lap is one lap.

But driving slowly is not for you. You’re going to prove to your friends and family that you’re a fast go-kart racer. With these tips, you’ll be able to go even faster on the go-kart track.
